The Farm exists to provide fresh vegetables to the hungry in 25 counties and 9 cities in Virginia. Over the past 4 years, 175,000 pounds of vegetables have been produced by the Farm and donated to the area food bank, food pantries and soup kitchens feeding more than 100,000 people per month.

We farm one acre of intensively cultivated beautiful garden soil and grow nursery crops in a 3,000 square foot greenhouse. Food Research and Action Center (FRAC)(Posted 10/25/07)
The Food Research and Action Center (FRAC) is the leading national nonprofit organization working to improve public policies to eradicate hunger and under- nutrition in the United States. FRAC engages in advocacy, research, analysis, training, technical assistance, and public education to improve the federal food programs to better serve children and families in need. FRAC and its anti-hunger partners throughout the U.S. work to document the extent of poverty and hunger, alert the public and policymakers to the magnitude of the problem, and forge workable solutions at the national, state and community levels.

FRAC offers a variety of internship possibilities throughout the year. The number of internships available at any given time fluctuates. FRAC interns work as volunteers or with the support of third party funding sources, such as work study programs. We will be happy to assist you in getting academic credit for your internship.
